As a break from my movie, tv and book reviews, I thought about how my day started, the first thing that came to mind was food, my exact question was, what's for lunch and dinner today? The moment it crossed my mind...ha! I knew the answer...can you believe it?
A little back story about myself (if you know me - you know this) and this may come as a surprise - so here goes - I don't cook. It's not like I despise cooking or something, I just didn't/don't. My hubby's common joke is, "I love Pia's cooking, it consists of McDonald's, P.F. Changs, Pizza Hut, Chipotle, etc."
These past couple of years, I have been surrounded by supportive friends who truly have a genuine passion for preparing food (more often from scratch!), this also ignited my own interest in testing the waters and to actually start cooking.
I admit that during the first few months, it seemed like I was going nowhere with everything. The very first time I made bread (using a bread maker of course), our friend, Scott walked me through the entire process, the one thing that he missed was unfortunately the most important part which was to attach the spinner so after 4 hours of waiting, my bread was still a clump of dough.
Another instance was during our house blessing we had approximately 15 friends over, I made beef stew which was too watery and was not good enough to serve. I was blessed to have several wonderful cooks around and despite us not having a stock pile of flour or corn starch, we managed and everything turned out really good (I hope).
I am not claiming to be an expert as I know that I'm slowly getting there, everyday I've been cooking a little more. Also, in January, we've had several folks over and was told that my cooking has improved.
As an answer to my very own question this morning, we had terriyaki chicken for lunch and beef stew for dinner.
If you have any tried and tested recipes, please feel free to send them my way.
